Yeeeeehaw!
I can sleep again! At least for a few days anyway...

My beloved Boston Red Sox have done what was once considered impossible.

I am still in shock that they live to play ball another day and have made the World Series for the first time since 1986.

After the 2nd inning and the score 6-0 I couldn't take it anymore and had to turn the TV off. I instead listened to the game on the radio. I so wanted them to win that I couldn't bear to watch them melt down like they have always done in the past. But something seems to be different about this group of 25 guys this year. They don't seem to care about "curses" or history. they just seem to concentrate on winning. Now.

God I love it! The Yankees now have the stench of Loser on themselves. It is now them who have tanked when it counted most...and more spectacularly than anyone in history. No one in baseball history has ever lost 4 straight games after first having won 3. As Comic Book guy on the Simpsons might say... "Worst. Choke. Ever."

The Yankees got very lazy. I got the feeling that after winning the first three games, all they had to do was wait around for Boston to blow it like usual and watch as the clouds part and the Baseball Gods reach down and annoit them Champs. Unfortunately for them, the Red Sox weren't about to roll over and play dead. Their mantra of "Why Not Us?" is a perfect example of their positive attitude. And that is why they won last night 10-3.And that is why they won the series 4 games to 3.

We will learn tonight who they play in game 1 of the World Series either Houston or St. Louis.

Until then I can sleep again.

And maybe do some drawing..... :)

Hi everybody,

I didn't work on the comic strip last night, instead I was painting a room at my parents house while poking my head out into the living room every now and then to get a look see at the debacle that was the Yankees vs. Red Sox. I almost wish they hadn't come back from 8 runs down so I could have gone to bed earlier!

Tonight the big debate is: Do I watch round 3 of the Bush vs. Kerry debates or game 2 of Yankees vs. Red Sox? I think my choice is obvious.

Which choice will you make?

I got a good start on ReMNaNTS #2 last night. I created a title for the strip using Adobe Illustrator and pasted it in place, as well as penciling in the panel borders and a good portion of the first panel. I will try to work on it some more tonight, but I will be out of town this weekend and won't be around to finish it...unless, of course, I stay up late tonight to get it done... :)

Talk to you later!

Dragging a bit today.

I stayed up late last night watching my beloved Boston Red Sox beat the Anaheim Angels to take a 2 games to none lead in the best of 5 Divisional Playoff series. WhooHoo! I did show my age some, though. I took a nap earlier in the evening so I could stay up and watch! The game wasn't over until almost 2am EST so it was a long one!

I'll get more work done on Remnants #2 this week, I promise!

As I said yesterday Remnants #1 is scanned and uploaded to the site. However, I still have to write the code so you can see it! I am going to add a new section to the website exclusively for these little "mini" Dougsides. I hope to have it up and running later today or tomorrow. I fell asleep during Monday Night Football last night so I didn't get it done, sorry! On the plus side, Baltimore Raven BJ Sams had 250 return yards including a touchdown to give me a come from behind victory in my fantasy football league this week! Always good to get that first win of the season!

Also, I did get started on Remnants #2 so I hope to have that done by week's end as well. If I push myself to have one of these done every week, I should be in good shape for my book in no time at all!

Talk to you all soon,

Howdy gang,

stayed up late after the Kerry-Bush debates and worked some more on the first installment of Remnants. It is almost finished! I inked the 2nd and 3rd panels completely and lettered the 4th panel. The only thing left is to ink the 4th panel. I almost stayed up longer to finish, but it was 1:30am so I decided to save some for tonight. I can't wait to get back to the drawing board with this. They come along so quickly, it is exciting for me. Full page 10" x 15" strips take a lot of work, but these little ones seem to just make themselves. This first one is actually a bit political regarding Bush's hunt for Osama bin Laden. When it is done I promise to scan it and put it up on the website. Keep checking back with the website and this here blog for more details!

Ciao bella,
